VT Chalet FAQ’s
Hopefully this list of FAQ’s will clarify any questions you have regarding the house, area and reservation process. Please don’t hesitate to contact us either by email or phone with any further questions. It’s important to us that the VTchalet will suit your vacation plans.
Do you accept pets? What is the pet fee?
We are pet-friendly. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome (sorry no other pets) provided they are treated with flea/tic prevention, refuse is picked up and they are not allowed on beds or furniture at any time. There is a $15 per day/per pet fee and a $200 refundable pet deposit. The house is dog-friendly with dog bowls, dog bed and even some treats!
What is Chimney Hill Resort?
Our house is nestled quietly in a small cul-de-sac surrounded by over an acre of property and many more acres of undeveloped forest area with trails and a brook. It feels secluded amongst the trees but we are part of a larger community of houses called Chimney Hill. We share amenities including Chimney Hill’s Clubhouse featuring outdoor tennis and basketball courts, indoor & outdoor pools, hot tub, saunas, playground, movie room, game room, billiards, BBQ pits and grills, poolside lounges and much more. Chimney Hill also has an ice skating rink, VAST snowmobiling access, hiking, and cross country wilderness trails.
What are check-in/check out times? Can I arrive earlier or leave later?
Check-in is @ 3pm and check out is @ 10am. We are often booked back to back and our housekeeper needs time to properly service the house between rentals. Earlier check-in or later check out may be arranged as long as there is not’t another guest checking out on your arrival day or checking in on your departure day.
How do I make a reservation?
The $300 refundable security/damage deposit is due at time of reservation to hold your dates. You also will need to provide your full contact info (name, address, phone, email). A rental agreement will be emailed for you to sign and fax or mail back with a check for the rental payment. For reservations made less than 3 weeks prior to arrival date, payment is arranged through Paypal.
Can I pay with a credit card?
We are not set up at this time to take credit cards directly, but you can use your credit card throughPaypal.
How do I get the keys?
Once all payments and paperwork is received you will be emailed more specific Directions, information about the cabin and instructions for accessing the key. There is lockbox right on the door with a code for getting the key so you can let yourself in. Once you depart, you replace key back in the lockbox.
How are the roads in the winter? Will I need four wheel drive?
Wintertime access on the roads to the VTchalet is quite good and our driveway is plowed/sanded in the winter. While 4-wheel drive is not exactly necessary, this is the mountains and an AWD drive vehicle is recommended in winter weather.
Will there be cell phone service? What about Internet?
Cell phone service is spotty in the area and at the house, that’s why we have an unlimited long distance calling plan on the phone (within the US only). Free Wireless Internet is available.
Are there shopping/restaurants nearby?
There are many restaurants to choose from within 2-15 minutes drive that range from pizza to fine dining. You can also head to Brattleboro and Bennington for even more dining choices. There are markets, gas stations and a major supermarket in Wilmington only 2 miles away. Take a look at our Links Page for some of our recommendations.
Are you a non-smoking facility ?
But seriously, the house and the clubhouse facilities are non-smoking.
How close are you to the Chimney Hill Facilities? Trails? Clubhouse with pools?
The trails are located steps from the house. Ice skating, fishing pond, basketball & tennis courts, and the clubhouse with the pools, jacuzzi, sauna and game room are all within a 1-2 minute drive. In the summer we walk.
What appliances are in the Kitchen?
The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, stove and oven, microwave, toaster oven, handmixer, mixer, blender, crockpot, coffee maker, plenty of pots, pans, dishware, glassware, and other accessories. There are some spices, coffee, tea, and even hot cocoa.
What else is included in the house? Do you provide firewood?
Internet, Wifi, domestic telephone service, utilities, plowing, sanding, garbage pickup, firewood are all included. The firewood is in the mudroom as well as behind the house.
Do you offer Ski lift coupons?
We try our best to keep ourselves abreast of the deals that exist for Lift tickets coupons. Early every season we offer $49 Lift Tickets while supplies last. Check out the bottom of the Links Page for a list of links that have helped us in the past. Don’t forget to contact your local ski club as they may have lift tickets for sale.
